Recently a good friend of mine posted an excerp from an interview with Patch Adams on her blog.
"What we have is so few chances in growing up to really talk about the miracles of life, the celebration that we are here. When I spend time with a patient, it's nothing for them to have a verbal ballet talking about their pain for three or four hours. It goes by like a snap. If I then say, "Okay, let's talk for about the same time about joy and about how you love life," they can almost never do it for more than 10 minutes, even if they are a happy person."
I think we need to do more, fear less, focus on the positive and get on with life a lot more.
